General
Mercedes-Benz offers various telematics services via the Service Center. The control unit for telematics services controls the services via a mobile radio connection to the Service Center.
The user has the following options:
- Exchange of information between the vehicle and the Service Center, e.g. for remote diagnoses or transmitting the location when making an emergency call.
- Remote access to various vehicle statuses, e.g. fuel level or location.
- Remote access to defined vehicle functions, e.g. for programming the stationary heater or remotely locking the doors.
The telematics services are operated in the vehicle via the multimedia system's display and control elements. In addition, the emergency call and Mercedes me buttons are located in the overhead control panel.
Remote access occurs e.g. via the Mercedes-Benz Customer Portal, the web app or the app on the smartphone.
Relevant input signals come from the following components:
- Mercedes me button (via the overhead control panel control unit)
- Emergency call system antenna(s)
- Hands-free system microphone
Relevant output signals go to the following components:
- Emergency call system antenna(s)
- Speaker system
- Central display
Function requirements
- Circuit 30t on.
- Transport mode is not active.
- The user is registered with the service center and the vehicle is linked with their account.
- The respective service is authorized (valid subscription) and activated.
- Sufficient mobile radio network coverage.

When workshop mode is activated, most telematics services cannot be used. However, automatic and manual emergency call as well as remote diagnosis, remote update and Internet access are still possible.
Function
Standard Services
- Accident and Breakdown Management:
The customer can request technical help using a voice connection with the Service Center by operating the Mercedes me button in the overhead control panel. In order to enable quick and effective assistance to be rendered, the control unit for telematics services also transmits vehicle data when the service is activated.
- Maintenance Management:
If the service is activated, maintenance-relevant data are sent to the stored Mercedes-Benz service partner even before any maintenance information appears in the instrument cluster. The vehicle owner then receives a personal service offer from the Mercedes-Benz service partner. If the customer accepts the offer, the maintenance instructions in the instrument cluster are no longer displayed.
- Telediagnosis:
The telematics services control unit continually monitors the condition of the selected wear parts (e.g. brake linings) and the fault memory of control
units. If necessary, it transmits the information via the Service Center to the preferred Mercedes-Benz service partner. He will then contact the vehicle owner.
- Remote diagnosis:
A Mercedes-Benz service center can query the condition of the vehicle as needed as part of an order. I n the process, a quick test provides an overview of the vehicle status and of any vehicle faults. The Service Center can also query the vehicle status, e.g. after a roadside repair.
The Standard Services are intended to improve customer service and provide rapid assistance in emergency situations. For this, they use information and self-diagnoses of the vehicle.
The following services are included in the Standard Services:
Concierge service
The Concierge Service is an exclusive assistance and information service. It provides personal assistance by telephone if the user is in an unfamiliar area and, for example, is looking for places of interest in the vicinity.
It can also suggest hotels or restaurants and reserve or book them if necessary. It is also possible to retrieve general information on stock prices, the weather and sports results.
Recommended destinations can be transferred to the navigation system. Alternatively, the Concierge Service can send the recommendations as an email or SMS.
The customer can use the Concierge Service both in the vehicle as well as with the Mercedes me connect App.
Digital key
Vehicles with code 896 (Vehicle access and authorization via smartphone)
This function enables the user to lock and unlock the vehicle or start the engine using his mobile phone or a Digital Vehicle Key Sticker.
Connection to the vehicle for this purpose is established via near-field communication (NFC) with the door handle of the driver's door or the stowage tray in the center console.
Additional function requirements:
- The vehicle is equipped with the function.
- A Digital Vehicle Key sticker or a suitable mobile phone with an antenna for NFC is present.
- The mobile phone is charged.
On certain mobile phones, the function is also available when discharged.
Use of the Digital Vehicle Key is restricted to a limited number of engine starts.
Afterwards, the Digital Vehicle Key Sticker must be replaced by a new Sticker, or the service must be deactivated and reactivated via the web app.
Before expiry of the maximum number of engine starts, a corresponding message is displayed in the instrument cluster.
Battery monitor
The user receives a message by email or SMS as soon as the battery charge level gets critically low.
IFTTT interface
IFTTT ("If this then that") is a free Internet platform. It enables user-defined tasks to be automated through the creation and use of simple Internet applications (applets).
Via the IFTTT interface, the user can use the following vehicle statuses as trigger conditions for IFTTT applications:
- Ignition switched on/off.
- Vehicle entering or leaving a defined area.
- Fuel level.
Messages generated via IFTTT are displayed in the vehicle by the multimedia system control.
To enable this, the user must register with IFTTT.
Interface to the voice assistant
The user can use the "Google Home App" or the "Alexa App" on his smartphone to link his Mercedes me account and then activate the corresponding voice assistant.
As soon as the Voice Assistant is connected to the user's Mercedes me account, the user will be able to use the following services, for example, - depending on the equipment - through the Voice Assistant:
- Remote locking.
- Stationary heater on/off.
- POI search (Point(s) of Interest).
- Query vehicle location.
- Fuel level.
- Query vehicle status.
- Query service due date.
The corresponding services must be activated in the Mercedes me Portal.
