General 

Multimedia system control (cars) 

The multimedia system control provides a user interface for the multimedia system in the central display or the front passenger display. For this, the multimedia system control evaluates the inputs of the multimedia system's control elements. Depending on the equipment installed, the multimedia system control provides the following functions:

  • Navigation
  • Radio
  • Media mode
  • TV
  • Telephone
  • Smartphone integration
  • Vehicle settings
  • Digital Owner's Manual

Depending on the equipment installed, one of the following control units executes the functions of the multimedia system:

  • Head unit control unit
  • Head unit/instrument cluster control unit

Multimedia system control (off-road vehicle with radio) The radio provides the following functions: 

  • Radio mode
  • Media mode via USB interface (Universal Serial Bus)
  • Media mode over Bluetooth®

Function requirements 

  • Circuit 30t on.
  • Transport mode not active.
  • System activation must have been performed.
  • Anti-theft protection is deactivated.
  • I n electric vehicles: Range maximization is not activated for the interior function area.
  • For off-road vehicles with stealth light: The stealth light is not switched on.

Function 

Operation and display of the multimedia system (cars) 

The following control elements are, depending on the model and equipment, available for operating the multimedia system:

  • Multimedia system button group on the multifunction steering wheel
  • Touchpad/lower control panel in center console
  • Head unit operating unit in center console
  • Upper control panel
  • Central display (touchscreen function)
  • Front passenger display (touchscreen function)
  • Voice control
  • Gesture recognition system

IMPORTANT Depending on the equipment, functions of the multimedia system may also be operated using control element in the rear passenger compartment.

The multimedia system control evaluates the operation signals and performs the appropriate adjustments. The user interface for the multimedia system control is shown in the central display or in the front passenger display. The central display is available in various sizes depending on the equipment installed.

Operation and display of the multimedia system (off-road vehicle with radio) 

The control elements and the display are integrated into the radio. The display brightness, instrument lighting and time is set on the instrument cluster.
