Transmission Control Module (TCM): Installation

CAUTION:
  • When replacing the TCM, be sure to perform [Start count reading ECU to SSM] before operation and perform [Start count writing SSM to ECU] after operation. Ref. to  AUTO START STOP (DIAGNOSTICS)>WORK SUPPORT>NOTE  . 
  • When [Start count reading ECU to SSM] cannot be performed due to TCM malfunction, be sure to replace the starter and fuel pump relay at the same time. 

Starter: 

Ref. to STARTING/CHARGING SYSTEMS (H4DO (EXCEPT FOR HEV))>STARTER .

Fuel pump relay: 

Ref. to FUEL INJECTION (FUEL SYSTEMS) (H4DO (EXCEPT FOR HEV))>FUEL PUMP RELAY .

  1. Install the TCM.

    Tightening torque: 

    7 N.m (0.7 kgf-m, 5.2 ft-lb)

  2. Connect the connector.
    NOTE:

    Move the lock lever and confirm that a clicking sound is heard. 

  3. Install the transmission case cover (front).
    NOTE:
    • Insert the transmission case cover (front) between transmission case cover (rear) and transmission body. 
    • When inserting, be careful that the insulator inside transmission case cover is not turned over.

    Tightening torque: 

    7 N.m (0.7 kgf-m, 5.2 ft-lb)

  4. Install the pitching stopper. Ref. to CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (TR580 CROSSTREK)>TRANSMISSION MOUNTING SYSTEM>INSTALLATION>PITCHING STOPPER .
  5. Connect the ground cord.

    Tightening torque: 

    32.3 N.m (3.3 kgf-m, 23.8 ft-lb)

  6. Install the air intake boot. Ref. to INTAKE (INDUCTION) (H4DO (EXCEPT FOR HEV))>AIR INTAKE BOOT>INSTALLATION .
  7. Connect the ground terminal to battery sensor. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
  8. Perform the [Clear AT learning value] and [AT learning mode] using Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (TR580 CROSSTREK)>AT LEARNING .
