Control Valve Body: Installation

2022 Subaru Impreza Base, 4D Sedan, Automatic CVT TransSECTION Installation

  1. Check the control valve body for foreign matter adhesion.
  2. Install the control valve body.
    1. Set the control valve body to the transmission body.
    2. Temporarily tighten the bolt (silver).

    3. Attach the bolt (black).

      Tightening torque: 

      9 N.m (0.9 kgf-m, 6.6 ft-lb)

    4. Tighten the bolt (silver).

    Tightening torque: 

    9 N.m (0.9 kgf-m, 6.6 ft-lb)

  3. Install a new O-ring to the transmission harness.
    NOTE:

    Apply CVTF to the O-rings. 

  4. Temporarily attach the transmission harness to the valve cover.
  5. Install a new gasket to the valve cover.
  6. Apply liquid gasket to the area shown in the figure.
    NOTE:
    • Before applying liquid gasket, degrease the old liquid gasket seal surface of the transmission body and valve cover gasket. 
    • Install within 5 min. after applying liquid gasket. 

    Liquid gasket: 

    THREE BOND 1216J or equivalent

  7. Connect the connector to the control valve body.
  8. Temporarily attach the valve cover.
  9. Tighten the bolts in the numerical order as shown in the figure.
    CAUTION:

    Be careful not to catch the ST (SHEET SPECIAL TOOL). 

    Tightening torque: 

    8 N.m (0.8 kgf-m, 5.9 ft-lb)

  10. Tighten the bolt which holds the transmission harness.

    Tightening torque: 

    7 N.m (0.7 kgf-m, 5.2 ft-lb)

  11. Remove the ST (SHEET SPECIAL TOOL).
  12. Install the throttle body. Ref. to FUEL INJECTION (FUEL SYSTEMS) (H4DO (EXCEPT FOR HEV))>THROTTLE BODY>INSTALLATION .
  13. Install the clip which holds the transmission harness.
  14. Install the air breather hose stay to the valve cover.

    Tightening torque: 

    7 N.m (0.7 kgf-m, 5.2 ft-lb)

  15. Connect the transmission harness connector to the engine wiring harness.

  16. Install the TCM. Ref. to CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (TR580 CROSSTREK)>TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE (TCM)>INSTALLATION .
  17. Connect the ground terminal to battery sensor. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
  18. Check the CVTF level. Ref. to CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (TR580 CROSSTREK)>CVTF>INSPECTION .
  19. Perform the [Clear AT learning value] and [AT learning mode] using Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (TR580 CROSSTREK)>AT LEARNING .
