Signal Circuit Inspection

2005 Hyundai Santa Fe GLS, 2.7 D, AWDSECTION Signal Circuit Inspection

  1. Check reference voltage to ECT sensor
    1. Ignition "OFF"
    2. Disconnect ECT sensor connector.
    3. Ignition "ON" & Engine "OFF"
    4. Measure voltage between terminal 3 of the ECT sensor harness connector and chassis ground.

      Specification : Approx. 5V

    5. Is the measured voltage within specifications?

      YES 

      NO 

      • Go to next step .
  2. Check for short to battery in harness
    1. Ignition "OFF"
    2. Disconnect ECT sensor connector.
    3. Ignition "ON" & Engine "OFF"
    4. Measure resistance between terminals 3 and 2 of the ECT sensor harness connector and chassis ground.

      Specification : Infinity

    5. Is the measured resistance within specifications?

      YES 

      • Go to next step .

      NO 

  3. Check for open in harness
    1. Ignition "OFF"
    2. Disconnect ECT sensor connector
    3. Measure resistance between terminal 3 of the ECT sensor harness connector and 4/C121-B of the PCM harness connector.

      Specification : Approx. below 1Ω

    4. Is the measured resistance within specifications?

      YES 

      NO 

      • Check for open in harness between ECTS connector and PCM connector. Repair or replace as a necessary and then, go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure.
