Steering Wheel: Installation
1996 Ford Pickup F250, 2D Pickup, 4.9 Y, Standard, M5OD-R2SECTION Installation
- Ensure front wheels are in straight-ahead position. Route clockspring wiring harness through steering wheel opening at 3 o'clock position. Position steering wheel on steering shaft and align marks made during removal procedure.
- Ensure air bag clockspring wire is not pinched when positioning steering wheel. Install new steering wheel retaining bolt, and tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Connect horn/speed control wiring harness (if equipped) to steering wheel and snap connector assembly into steering wheel clip.
- Install air bag module. Reconnect positive, then negative battery cable. Activate air bag system. Check AIR BAG warning light to ensure system is functioning properly. See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK .
