Caution! The male and female pins on the electronic throttle unit connectors are gold plated. Great care must be taken when measuring. Damage to the gold plating can result in operating difficulties.

Checking diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs)
- Ignition on
- Read off diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).
Check to see if any other diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) are stored. If other diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) are stored, they may mean that it is not possible to run the adaptation of the engine control module (ECM).
Are any other diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) stored?
Yes - Fault-tracing information
No - Checking the status
-------------------------------------------------
Checking the status
Note! The ignition must be switched on for at least 30 seconds after the basic conditions are met in order for the adaptation to start. It takes approximately 10 seconds to run the adaptation.
- Ignition off
- Ignition on
- Read off the parameters.
Check that the following basic conditions for adaptation of the throttle unit are met.
1. Ignition on / engine off
2. Battery voltage above 10 V
3. Accelerator pedal (AP) unaffected
4. The car must be stationary (no vehicle speed signal)
5. Engine coolant temperature (ECT) between 5-100 °C
6. Intake air temperature (IAT) above 5 °C.
Remedy as necessary.
Check that the adaptation is correctly run after the "Adaptation of the throttle unit running" parameter changes status from "YES" to "NO". When all basic conditions are met, the adaptation must be completed after approximately 40 seconds. When the adaptation is completed correctly, the following information will be displayed:
- Adaptation of the throttle unit: OK
- Adaptation of the throttle unit running: NO.
The fault is intermittent at the moment if the adaptation has been completed correctly.
Continue - Checking the connectors and components

Checking the connectors and components
- Ignition off.
Check the throttle unit and engine control module (ECM) connectors. Check for contact resistance and oxidation.
Check the resistance values of the potentiometers in the throttle unit.
Check that the shutter in the throttle unit is not blocked or sticking. Clean as necessary.
Remedy as necessary.
