The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the control module detects a fault on the signal to the cooling fan motor for the control modules.
The signal is diagnosed at ignition on or engine running.

Signal too high:
- Short-circuit to supply voltage in the signal cable
- Damaged control module cooling fan.

Signal too low:
- Short-circuit to ground in the signal cable
- Damaged control module cooling fan.

Signal missing:
- Contact resistance in the terminals
- Open-circuit in the signal cable
- Open-circuit in the power cable
- Damaged control module cooling fan.
