Condition
The control module software is adapted to the engine and transmission of the car. The control module must contain the correct software version in order for the transmission to function satisfactorily. Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) TCM-0048 is stored if the control module registers that the engine, transmission and software are not compatible.
Substitute value
- The control module "Limp Home" program has been initiated.
Possible source
- Faulty software in the transmission control module (TCM).
- Faulty transmission (installed when the transmission was replaced for example).
Fault symptom[s]
- General orange warning lamp lit.
- The malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) flashes.
