Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information

Condition

The oil temperature sensor transmits a signal to the control module. This signal is used for functions such as temperature controlled lock-up and the engagement of high-temperature programs. The sensor has an NTC (negative temperature coefficient) resistor. The signal (voltage) decreases with increasing oil temperature. Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) TCM-0044 is stored if the control module receives a signal from the oil temperature sensor corresponding to a temperature below approximately -10°C when the engine is started, and the signal has not changed after the engine has been running for approximately 10 minutes.

Substitute value
- No substitute values.

Possible source
- Contact resistance in the terminals.
- Open-circuit in the signal cable or in the ground lead.
- Short-circuit to supply voltage in the signal cable.
- Defective oil temperature sensor.

Fault symptom[s]
- General orange warning lamp lit.
- Harsh gear shifting.

Hint: Harsh gear shifting can be caused by:
- No reduction of the line pressure when shifting.
- No reduction of the line pressure when moving the gear selector between positions P-R, N-R and N-D.
- No request for torque limiting to the engine control module (ECM) when shifting.
