Condition
- Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) ECM-6400 (camshaft intake) or ECM-6410 (camshaft exhaust) is stored if the engine control module (ECM) registers that the signal from the camshaft reset valve is too low or missing.
Substitute value
- Shutting off the variable camshaft.
Possible source
- Contact resistance in the terminals
- Open-circuit in the signal cable
- Short-circuit to ground in the signal cable
- Short-circuit to supply voltage in the signal cable (open-circuit in the fuse)
- Open-circuit in the voltage supply cable
- Defective camshaft reset valve.
Fault symptom[s]
- Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) lit
- The engine does not start (open-circuit in the fuse).
