Condition




The control modules in the car continually transmit and receive information over the data network (Controller Area Network). When the brake control module (BCM) is supplied with voltage the CAN controller which handles Controller Area Network communication is initialized.
Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) BCM-0151 is stored if initialization of the CAN controller fails.
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) can be diagnosed while the ignition is switched on.

Substitute value
- Traction control is blocked
- Stability control is blocked
- Active yaw control is blocked
- All communication to and from the brake control module (BCM) is shut off.

Possible source
- Internal fault in the brake control module (BCM).

Fault symptom[s]
- The anti-spin warning lamp is lit (up to and including 2002 model year)
- General yellow warning lamp lit (from model year 2003 inclusive)
- The stability control system does not function
- The traction control system does not function.
