Inspection Procedure
HINT:
Before performing the inspection, depress the brake pedal and check that the stop lights come on. If the stop lights do not come on when the brake pedal is depressed, refer to the page shown in the brackets (See PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE ).
- READ VALUE OF TECHSTREAM (STOP LIGHT SWITCH)
- Connect Techstream to the DLC3.
- Turn the power switch on (IG).
- Check the DATA LIST for proper functioning of the stop light switch.

OFF: Brake pedal released- OK:
ON (brake pedal depressed) and OFF (brake pedal released) appear on the screen.
NG: Go to step 4
OK: Go to Next Step
- CHECK DTC OUTPUT (CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM)
- Delete the DTCs (See DTC CHECK / CLEAR ).
- Check for CAN communication system DTCs (See
HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING
).
HINT:
If the DTCs for the CAN communication system malfunction are output, inspect those DTCs first (See DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM ).
OK:
No DTC is output.
NG: Go to CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM 1
OK: Go to Next Step
- CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM)
- Delete the DTCs (See DTC CHECK / CLEAR ).
- Check for hybrid control system DTCs (See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART ).
OK:
No DTC is output.
NG: Go to HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM
OK: REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU
- INSPECT FUSE (STOP)
- Remove the STOP fuse from the instrument panel J/B.
- Measure the resistance of the fuse.
Standard resistance:
Below 1 Ω
NG: REPLACE FUSE
OK: Go to Next Step
- CHECK WIRE HARNESS (BATTERY - MAIN BODY ECU)
- Disconnect the IL ECU connector.
- Measure the voltage according to the value (s) in the table below.

OK: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
NG: Go to Next Step
- INSPECT STOP LIGHT SWITCH
- Remove the switch.
- Measure the resistance of the switch.
Standard resistance
