Inspection Procedure
HINT:
In case of using the LEXUS hand-held tester, start the inspection from step 1 and in case of not using the LEXUS hand-held tester, start from step 2.
- Check light sensor.
PREPARATION:
- Connect the LEXUS hand-held tester to the DLC3.
- Turn ignition switch ON and LEXUS hand-held tester main switch ON.
CHECK:
The value of the illumination rate should change in the following range when the light sensor is put in the light or covered by a hand.
OK:
0.8 ms - 22.0 ms
HINT:
- This is the time to be taken for the light sensor to generate one circle of frequency according to the brightness.
- When not using LEXUS hand-held tester (See INSPECTION ).
- NG : Replace the light sensor.
- OK : Go to next step.
- Check wire harness and connector between light sensor and driver side J/B ECU (See HOW TO USE THE DIAGNOSTIC CHART AND INSPECTION PROCEDURE
).
- NG : Repair or replace wire harness.
- OK : Replace driver side J/B ECU.

When to See a Mechanic
Stop DIY work and contact a certified mechanic immediately if any of the following apply:
- • You smell fuel, burning insulation, or see smoke.
- • Brakes feel soft, pull hard to one side, or make grinding noises.
- • The engine overheats, stalls repeatedly, or misfires under load.
- • You are missing required tools, torque specs, or safe lifting equipment.
- • You are not confident in the next step or safety outcome.
