Front Speed Sensor: Installation

2008 Scion xD AutomaticSECTION Installation
  1. INSTALL FRONT SPEED SENSOR

    1. Install the speed sensor onto the steering knuckle with the bolt.

      Torque: 8.5 N*m (87 kgf*cm, 75 in.*lbf) 

      NOTE:
      • Check that the speed sensor tip and installation portion are free of foreign matter.
      • Install the speed sensor without turning it from its original installation angle.
    2. Install the No. 1 sensor clamp onto the shock absorber with the bolt.

      Torque: 29 N*m (300 kgf*cm, 22 ft.*lbf) 

    3. Install the No. 2 sensor clamp onto the body with the bolt.

      Torque: 6.0 N*m (61 kgf*cm, 53 in.*lbf) 

    4. Engage the clamps D, C and B onto the body.
    5. Connect the speed sensor connector.
    6. Engage the clamp A onto the body.

  3. INSTALL SIDE MUDGUARD  (See INSTALLATION )
  4. INSTALL ROCKER PANEL MOLDING COVER  (See INSTALLATION )
  5. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL 

    Torque: 103 N*m (1050 kgf*cm, 76 ft.*lbf) 

  6. CHECK ABS SENSOR SIGNAL (w/o VSC) 

    (See TEST MODE PROCEDURE  )

  7. CHECK VSC SENSOR SIGNAL (w/ VSC) 

    (See TEST MODE PROCEDURE  )
