Retard Components

1993 Saab 9000 CD, 2.3 B, StandardSECTION Retard Components

All models except 9000 Series Turbo are equipped with a knock sensor. On 9000 Series Turbo, knock sensing is accomplished by the ECM; no discrete knock sensor is used. 900 Turbo vehicles are equipped with a retard cylinder on the distributor, which retards timing in response to increasing boost pressure. Except for those components, all retard functions are controlled by the ignition ECM. See KNOCK SENSOR (EXCEPT 9000 SERIES TURBO)  and RETARD CYLINDER (900 TURBO)  .
