Rack & Pinion Assembly R & I: Installation

1994 Plymouth Sundance Base, 2D Hatchback, 2.2 D, AutomaticSECTION Installation
  1. To install, reverse removal procedure. Assistance will be needed in vehicle to guide steering coupler onto steering gear.
  2. Install right rear crossmember bolt first. This correctly locates crossmember. Tighten crossmember mounting bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONSΒ  . Tighten left front rack and pinion mounting bolt first to properly align steering gear. Add power steering fluid. DO NOTΒ  use automatic transmission fluid. Bleed system. See HYDRAULIC SYSTEM BLEEDINGΒ  under LUBRICATION. Check for fluid leaks. Check and adjust toe-in.
