Self-Diagnostic System: Self-Diagnostics
The rear window defogger is controlled by the Generic Electronic Module (GEM) which utilizes a self-diagnostic system which may store a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) if a problem exists in the system. DTCs may be retrieved using NGS tester and Data Link Connector (DLC) for diagnosis of system. Before performing any testing, a preliminary inspection should be performed. See PRELIMINARY PROCEDURE .

When to See a Mechanic
Stop DIY work and contact a certified mechanic immediately if any of the following apply:

- • Brakes feel soft, pull hard to one side, or make grinding noises.
- • The engine overheats, stalls repeatedly, or misfires under load.
- • You are missing required tools, torque specs, or safe lifting equipment.
