Brake Caliper

2008 Mazda Tribute s Sport, 4WDSECTION Brake Caliper

Inspect the brake calipers for the following:

  • Brake fluid leaks
  • Boots and seals for tears or cracks
  • Caliper piston for binding and corrosion
  • Guide pins for correct operation. See BRAKE CALIPER GUIDE PINSΒ  in this section


  • Foreign material in the caliper piston seal groove
  • Punctured or otherwise damaged caliper piston seal

The brake caliper piston seals are not serviceable and must be installed new as part of a new brake caliper. See BRAKE CALIPER - FRONT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
