Test 7: Trunk Lid Does Not Unlock With Lid Opener Switch

1999 Mazda 626 ES, 2.5 D, StandardSECTION Test 7: Trunk Lid Does Not Unlock With Lid Opener Switch
  1. Remove driver's kick panel. Measure voltage between ground and door lock control module No. 2 terminal "B" with trunk lid opener switch in neutral position. See Figure . If voltage is 5 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not 5 volts, replace door lock control module No. 2.
  2. Remove trunk lid cancel switch located in trunk. Measure voltage between ground and trunk lid cancel switch terminal "A". See Figure . If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, repair wiring between door lock control module No. 2 and trunk lid opener switch. See WIRING DIAGRAMSΒ  .
  3. Inspect trunk lid cancel switch. See TRUNK LID CANCEL SWITCHΒ  under COMPONENT TESTS. If trunk lid cancel switch is okay, go to next step. If trunk lid cancel switch is faulty, replace switch.
  4. Check for continuity between trunk lid cancel switch terminal "B" and trunk lid opener switch terminal "A". See Figure -Figure . If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair wiring between trunk lid opener switch and trunk lid cancel switch. See WIRING DIAGRAMSΒ  .
  5. Inspect trunk lid opener switch. See TRUNK LID OPENER SWITCHΒ  under COMPONENT TESTS. If trunk lid opener switch is okay, go to next step. If trunk lid opener switch is faulty, replace switch.
  6. Check for continuity between ground and trunk lid opener switch terminal "B". See Figure . If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair wiring between trunk lid opener switch and ground.
  7. Measure voltage between ground and door lock control module No. 2 terminal "D" with trunk lid opener switch in unlock position. If voltage is zero volts, increases to battery voltage when button is pressed, then returns to zero volts, go to next step. If voltage is not as described, replace door lock control module No. 2.
  8. Measure voltage between ground and trunk lid lock actuator terminal "A" with trunk lid opener switch in unlock position. If voltage is zero volts, increases to battery voltage when button is pressed, then returns to zero volts, go to next step. If voltage is not as described, repair wiring between door lock control module No. 2 and trunk lid lock actuator. See WIRING DIAGRAMSΒ  .
  9. Inspect trunk lid lock actuator. See TRUNK LID ACTUATORΒ  under COMPONENT TESTS. If trunk lid lock actuator is okay, repair wiring between trunk lid lock actuator and ground. If trunk lid lock actuator is bad, replace trunk lid lock actuator.
