Power Rack & Pinion: Installation

1998 Lexus SC 300SECTION Installation
  1. Center rack assembly. If pressure or return tubes have been removed, reinstall using new gaskets before installing rack assembly. Tighten union bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONSΒ . Ensure steering wheel and air bag cable reel cable are centered.
  2. Align reference marks. Connect rack assembly to steering column universal joint. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Bleed system. See HYDRAULIC SYSTEM BLEEDINGΒ  under LUBRICATION. Adjust toe-in. See WHEEL ALIGNMENT SPECIFICATIONS & PROCEDURES article in WHEEL ALIGNMENT section.
