The Advanced Vehicle Stability Management (AVSM) is a function of the Electronic Stability Control (ESC)/Electrolnic Stability Program (ESP) and Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit (HECU). The Smart Cruise Control (SCC) maintains the vehicle speed and or the distance ahead of the vehicle. The AVSM is used by the Smart Cruise Control (SCC) to slow or stop the vehicle by applying the brakes.

The AVSM/HECU communicates with the ETM, TCM, and SCC via CAN.
