DTC Information and Inspection: DTC Detecting Condition

2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz SEL, FWDSECTION DTC Detecting Condition
Item Detecting Condition Possible Cause
DTC Strategy Case1
  • Signal stuck low
  1. Poor connector connection
  2. Faulty ECT sensor circuit
  3. Faulty ECT sensor
Case2
  • Signal stuck high
Case3
  • Plausibility monitoring
Enable Condition Case1
  • IAT at engine start more than -10°C (14°F)
  • ECT at engine start more than 56°C (132.8°F)
  • Battery voltage is between 11V and 16V
  • Ambient air temperature model higher than -10°C (14°F)
Case2
  • Battery voltage is between 11V and 16V
  • ECT at engine start more than 76°C (169°F)
Case3
  • Battery voltage is between 11V and 16V
  • Engine stop time is more than 360 minutes
  • After engine start, coolant temperature decreases below 1.4°C (34.5°F) for 15 seconds over 25 km/h (15.53 MPH) in vehicle speed
  • After engine start, the intake, engine oil, and ambient air temperature decreases below 20°C (68°F) for 15 seconds over 25 km/h (15.53 MPH) in vehicle speed
  • Engine coolant temperature is above -30°C (-22°F)
Threshold Value Case1
  • ECT variation since engine start less than 2.25°C (36.05°F)
Case2
  • Difference between the coolant temperature sensor model value and the measured temperature sensor is 5°C (46.4°F)
Case3
  • More than 20°C (68°F) compared to the engine coolant temperature sensor value and engine oil/ambient air/intake air temperature model value
Diagnostic Time Case1, 2
  • 1 second
Case3
  • 0.4 seconds
MIL ON Condition
  • 2 driving cycles

  • Brakes feel soft, pull hard to one side, or make grinding noises.
  • The engine overheats, stalls repeatedly, or misfires under load.
  • You are missing required tools, torque specs, or safe lifting equipment.
  • You are not confident in the next step or safety outcome.
