  1. Install Scan tool and monitor the "TPS 2 (Sub) or TP Sensor (ECM)" parameter on scan tool. Test Condition : Ignition "ON" & Engine "OFF"
    THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR SPECIFICATIONS

    TPS Voltage
    Fully Closed 4.2 ~ 4.8V
    Fully Open 0.3 ~ 1 .0V
    TPS signal should decrease smoothly as throttle is opened.

  2. Is TPS signal within specifications?

    YESΒ 

    • Fault is intermittent caused by poor contact in the sensor's and/or PCM's connector or was repaired and PCM memory was not cleared. Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage. Repair or replace as necessary and go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIRΒ " procedure.
