Shift Interlock System
1996 Hyundai Elantra Base, 4D Sedan, Automatic, KM175SECTION Shift Interlock System
- To check system operation, turn ignition on. Depress release button on side of shift lever.
- With brake pedal released, shift lever should not move from Park. Depress brake pedal. Shift lever should now move from Park.
- If shift interlock system operation is not as specified, it may be necessary to check brakelight switch and A/T shift lock solenoid. See BRAKELIGHT SWITCH and
A/T SHIFT LOCK SOLENOID . If necessary, check wiring and ground connections. See Figure .
