Grid Filament

1994 Hyundai Sonata GLS, 2.0 F, StandardSECTION Grid Filament
  1. Wrap a small piece of aluminum foil around voltmeter probes and make a flat area with foil. SeeFig 1 . Turn defogger switch to ON position. Position voltmeter probes to measure voltage from center point of each filament line to the outer edge line. SeeFig 1 . A reading of about 6 volts indicates a good filament. A reading of 12 volts indicates a break in filament between center and positive side.

  2. A reading of zero volts indicates a break in filament line between center point and negative side of line tested. To locate break, move probe along filament line until voltmeter needle moves abruptly. A broken filament may be repaired using conductive paint, after removing silicone covering. See GRID FILAMENT REPAIRΒ  under ON-VEHICLE SERVICE. SeeFigure .
