2009 Honda CR-V EX, 2.4 RE3SECTION DTC 2606: H/U Diag: 6CD

NOTE:
  • Check the vehicle battery condition first (see BATTERY TEST ).
  • This code sets when an internal problem or a connection problem to the 6CD changer is detected.
  • Check for B-CAN DTCs and resolve them before troubleshooting.
  • Before you troubleshoot, make sure to follow the general troubleshooting information (see GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING INFORMATION -('10 MODEL) ).
  1. Clear the hard error code (see HOW TO CLEAR ERROR HISTORY ).
  2. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0) and then back to ON (II).
  3. Go into the Diagnostic Menu, and select the Self-Diagnosis Mode in the Select Diagnosis Items menu (see SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC MODE - ('10 MODEL) ).
  4. Check the System Links.

    Is the 6CD icon red? 

    YES  -Go to step 5.

    NO  -Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.

  5. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
  6. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at these items:
    • Audio-navigation unit connector E (14P)
    • Audio disc changer 13P connector
    • XM receiver connector A (14P)
    • USB adapter unit connector A (14P)

      Are the connections OK? 

      YES  -Go to step 7.

      NO  -Repair poor connections or loose terminals, and recheck the self-diagnosis mode (see SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC MODE - ('10 MODEL) ).

  7. Press the AUDIO button until USB appears on the navigation display.
  8. Check if the USB device can be operated with the audio-navigation unit (Folders of Files UP/DOWN, etc.).

    Can you operate the USB device, and is the sound normal? 

    YES  -Go to  11.

    NO  -Go to step 9.

  9. Disconnect these items:
    • Audio-navigation unit connector E (14P)
    • Audio disc changer 13P connector
    • XM receiver connector A (14P)
    • USB adapter unit connector A (14P)
  10. Check for continuity between body ground and audio-navigation unit connector E (14P) terminals No. 9 and No. 10.

    Is there continuity? 

    YES  -There is a short to body ground in the wire(s) between the audio-navigation unit and the audio disc changer. Replace the affected shielded harness.

    NO  -Go to step 11.

  11. Connect audio-navigation unit connector E (14P) terminals No. 9 and No. 10 with a jumper wire.

  12. Check for continuity between audio disc changer 13P connector terminals No. 3 and No. 8.

    Is there continuity? 

    YES  -Go to step 13.

    NO  - There is an open in the wire(s) between the audio-navigation unit and the audio disc changer. Replace the affected shielded harness.

  13. Reconnect audio-navigation unit connector E (14P) and the audio disc changer 13P connector.
  14. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
  15. Clear the hard error code (see HOW TO CLEAR ERROR HISTORY ).
  16. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0) and then back to ON (II).
  17. Go into the Diagnostic Menu, and select the Self-Diagnosis Mode in the Select Diagnosis Items menu (see SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC MODE - ('10 MODEL) ).
  18. Check the System Links.

    Is the 6CD icon red? 

    YES  -Go to  25.

    NO  -Go to step 19.

  19. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK(0).
  20. Reconnect XM receiver connector A (14P).
  21. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
  22. Clear the hard error code (see HOW TO CLEAR ERROR HISTORY ).
  23. Go into the Diagnostic Menu, and select the Self-Diagnosis Mode in the Select Diagnosis Items menu (see SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC MODE - ('10 MODEL) ).
  24. Check the System Links.

    Is the 6CD icon red? 

    YES  -Replace the XM receiver (see STEREO AMPLIFIER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).

    NO  -Replace the USB adapter unit (see INPUT TEST ).

  25. Substitute a known-good audio-navigation unit (see AUDIO-NAVIGATION UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - ('10 MODEL) ).
  26. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
  27. Clear the hard error code (see HOW TO CLEAR ERROR HISTORY ).
  28. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0) and then back to ON (II).
  29. Check for the hard error code (see HOW DO I FIND THE LOCAL ADDRESS OF A BUSINESS THAT IS PART OF A NATIONAL CHAIN (FOR EXAMPLE, STARBUCKS)? ).

    Is DTC 2606 indicated? 

    YES  -Replace the audio disc changer (see AUDIO DISC CHANGER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).

    NO  -Replace the original audio-navigation unit (see AUDIO-NAVIGATION UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - ('10 MODEL) ).
