2009 Honda CR-V EX, 2.4 RE3SECTION Error Codes

The audio system can display a few error codes when some of the problems are detected with the audio disc changer, the audio disc, the USB adapter unit, the USB device, the XM radio, or the anti-theft code. This is not a complete list of the audio error codes. Refer to SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING , or go to any official Honda service website for more service information.

CD Error Codes (Except LX model) 

TROUBLESHOOTING CHART - CD ERROR CODES (EXCEPT LX MODEL)

Error Code Displayed Possible Cause Solution
UNSUPPORTED Track/File format not supported. Current track will be skipped. The next supported track or file plays automatically.
  • Verify that CD, CD-R or CD-RW file names end in CD-A or WMA.
  • Verify that CD, CD-R or CD-RW with compressed music formats end in MP3 or WMA.
  • Other file formats like i-Tunes (AAC) or Ogg are not recognized.
  • WMA files may have (DRM) copy protection and cannot be read.
BAD DISC/PLEASE CHECK/OWNERS SERVICE INFORMATION/PUSH EJECT
  • CD label jammed in the mechanism.
  • The wrong type disc is inserted.
  • CD eject mechanism or motor is inoperative.
  • CD spindle motor won't spin up the CD.
  • Eject CD and insert a known-good CD.
  • If flashing the PUSH EJECT, press the EJECT button and hold it for 5 seconds. If the disc does not eject, try again. If the disc still won't eject, replace the audio unit (see AUDIO UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).

CHECK DISC There is a problem with the disc player. A common problem is disc labels coming off the disc while in the player. Try to eject the disc and try another one. If there is still a problem, replace the audio unit (see AUDIO UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).

CD Error Codes (LX model)

Error Code Displayed Possible Cause Solution
ERR There is a problem with the disc player. A common problem is disc labels coming off the disc while in the player. Try to eject the disc and try another one. If there is still a problem, replace the audio unit (see AUDIO UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
DISC Possibly CD installed up side down. Eject CD and try a known-good CD. If the error code is still present, replace the audio unit (see AUDIO UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).

USB Error Codes

Error Code Displayed Possible Cause Solution
USB ERROR USB adapter unit Internal ROM Error. Replace the USB adapter unit (see INPUT TEST ).
BAD USE DEVICE/PLEASE CHECK/OWNERS SERVICE INFORMATION The power supply is not supplied to USB device. If the symptom is reproduced when the USB device is connected with another vehicle, it is a problem with the USB device. Substitute a USB adapter unit or the cable if you cannot reproduce the symptom.
NO DATA USB device is not connected. If the code appears when the USB device is connected, go to USB device does not function:
USB NO DATA
NO SONG There is no file in the USB device or iPod. Check the files in the USB device. There is a possibility that the files have been damaged, or are not supported.
USB NO SONG/iPod NO SONG
UNPLAYABLE FILE The audio unit or the audio-navigation unit cannot read the file(s).
  • Check the files in the USB device. There is a possibility that the files have been damaged.
  • The WMA files or the AAC file cannot be read with the (DRM) copy protection rights.
UNSUPPORTED
  • Unsupported USB device is connected.
  • Unsupported file system.
  • Unsupported iPod is connected.
  • USB device communication error.
  • Connect the applicable USB device, (see Owner's Service Information)
  • Connect the applicable iPod. (see Owner's Service Information)
UNSUPPORTED
  • Unsupported USB device is connected.
  • Unsupported file system.
  • USB device communication error.
Connect the applicable USB device, (see Owner's Service Information)
UNSUPPORTED VER Unsupported iPod is connected. Connect the applicable iPod. (see Owner's Service Information)
CONNECT RETRY The audio unit failed to synchronize with the iPod. Reconnect the iPod.

Audio Unit Error Codes

Error Code Displayed Possible Cause Solution
CODE ERROR 1 Anti-theft code mismatch (1st try). Enter the correct anti-theft code.
CODE ERROR E Anti-theft code mismatch (10th try). Remove the No. 17 (15 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box, then reinsert it. You will have 10 more tries to enter the correct anti-theft code.

PC Card Error Codes

Error Code Displayed Possible Cause Solution
FILE ERROR Audio unit cannot read the files on the PC card.
  • Verify that PC card file names end in CD-A or WMA.
  • Verify that PC card with compressed music formats end in MP3 or WMA.
  • Other file formats like i-Tunes (AAC) or Ogg are not recognized.
  • WMA files may have (DRM) copy protection and cannot be read.
MEDIA ERROR Audio unit cannot recognize PC card.
  • Please confirm a kind of PC card.
  • When use an adapter, please confirm a connection state of an adapter.
NO MUSIC Audio unit can recognize PC card, but a music file is not found. Make sure the PC card has properly supported music files loaded on it.

XM Error Codes 

TROUBLESHOOTING CHART - XM ERROR CODES

Error Code Displayed Possible Cause Solution
LOADING XM radio is acquiring audio or program information. Wait until the radio receives the information.
OFF AIR XM channel not in service. Try another XM channel.
UPDATING XM radio is receiving information update from the network. This message disappears once the update finishes.
NO SIGNAL Loss of signal. Both terrestrial and satellite antennas have lost the signal. Park the vehicle outside with a clear view of the southern horizon.
  No signal from XM. Check a known-good vehicle with XM radio. If the known-good vehicle has the same symptoms, contact XM satellite radio at 800-852-9696.
CHECK ANTENNA There is problem with the XM antenna. Go to system troubleshooting for ERROR CODE: XM ANTENNA is displayed (see ERROR CODE: XM NO SIGNAL OR XM ANTENNA IS DISPLAYED ).
NOTE: Do these checks with the vehicle parked outside with a clear view of the southern horizon.
