- Record radio preset frequencies for reprogramming, if equipped. On gasoline engines, disconnect negative battery cable. On gasoline engines with dual batteries, also disconnect auxiliary battery negative cable, on right frame rail. On diesel engines, disconnect primary battery negative cable. Disconnect and INSULATE primary battery positive cable.WARNING: On diesel engines with dual batteries, the primary battery positive cable remains energized after it is disconnected.
- On all models, wait at least 1 minute for backup power supply to deplete stored energy. Remove driver air bag module. See DRIVER AIR BAG MODULEΒ . Connect appropriate air bag simulator to clockspring connector at top of steering column, in place of air bag. See AIR BAG SIMULATORΒ .
- Remove finish panel on lower right side of dash panel. Using screwdriver under lower right edge of door, CAREFULLY lift up air bag door on right side of dash. See Fig 1. Remove passenger air bag module nuts. Slide passenger air bag module out and disconnect air bag module electrical connector. Connect appropriate air bag simulator to passenger air bag vehicle harness connector, in place of air bag. See AIR BAG SIMULATORΒ . Reconnect all battery cables.
