External Controls - System Operation and Component Description: TCS

2021 Ford Edge SE, 4WDSECTION TCS
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2020 Ford F-150. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The TCS:

  • is a momentary contact switch located on the end of the column shift selector lever or on the floor shift selector lever knob.
  • engages or disengages the TOW/HAUL feature of the transmission.
  • illuminates the TOW/HAUL icon on the IPC.

With the TOW/HAUL feature of the transmission activated, the transmission delays upshifts to reduce the frequency of transmission shifting and provides engine braking to slow the vehicle and assist the driver in controlling the vehicle when descending a hill.

For column shift equipped vehicles pressing the TCS switch a second time activates SPORT mode (if equipped) and the driver can manually shift the transmission to gears 1 through 6 using the SelectShiftβ„’ switch located on the selector lever. The TOW/HAUL icon on the IPC is extinguished and the SPORT icon on the IPC illuminates. Pressing the TCS switch a third time resets the system.
