Materials

Motorcraft® MERCON® LV Automatic Transmission FluidXT-10-QLVC WSS-M2C938-AMERCON® LV,

Check 

Refer to: appropriate procedures in REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

  1. Connect the diagnostic scan tool to the vehicle. Monitor the TFT PID.
  2. With the engine running in PARK on a level surface make sure the transmission is at normal operating temperature 85-93 deg. C (185-200 deg. F). If necessary, drive the vehicle until the transmission is at normal operating temperature 85-93 deg. C (185-200 deg. F).
  3. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Raise the vehicle. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview . Engine Undershield
  4. Position drain pan under the transmission oil leveling plug.
  5. Check the transmission fluid is even with the oil leveling plug hole.

    1. Standard transmission case (M10 plug)
    2. Fuel economy transmission case (M20 plug)

  6. If the transmission fluid is not even with the oil leveling plug hole:

    1. Partially lower the vehicle.
    2. Remove the transmission vent.
    3. Add clean transmission fluid in increments of 0.25L (0.5 pt) until the transmission fluid is even with the oil leveling plug hole.

  7. With the clamp facing the front of the vehicle, compress the constant tension clamp and install the transmission vent on the fill tube.

  8. Partially raise the vehicle.
  9. Install the oil leveling plug.

    1. Standard transmission case (M10 plug)

      Torque: 71 lb.in (8 Nm)

    2. Fuel economy transmission case (M20 plug)

      Torque: 26 lb.ft (35 Nm)

  10. Lower the vehicle.
