Valve Spring Free Length

  1. Clean all valve springs in a suitable solvent.
  2. Inspect valve springs for rust, pitting, distortion and cracks. If any of these conditions exist, install new valve springs.
  3. Using a valve spring tester, measure the valve spring free length. For additional information, refer to SPECIFICATIONSΒ .

  4. Apply the appropriate installed test load to each spring and determine whether the test length is achieved. Repeat for valve open load. For additional information, refer to SPECIFICATIONSΒ .
