REMOVAL
CAUTION: The Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor is a calibrated unit. Service hot wire engine element and housing as a complete assembly.
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the powertrain control module relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 10 miles or more to relearn the adaptive strategy.
2. Disconnect engine control sensor wiring from MAF sensor.
3. Loosen engine air cleaner tube clamps on air cleaner outlet tube and throttle body inlet tube. Disconnect tubes from MAF sensor.
4. Remove MAF sensor bracket retaining bolt and remove MAF sensor.
INSTALLATION
1. To install, reverse removal procedure.
2. Tighten MAF sensor retaining bolts to 4.7-5.0 Nm (42-46 in lb).
3. Tighten engine air cleaner tube clamps to 1.4-2.5 Nm (12-22 in lb).
