NTC-8B: Checking Map Sensor Calibration

Turn ignition off. Install vacuum "T" fitting and pressure gauge at manifold pressure source. Start engine and allow engine to idle. If engine will not idle, maintain a constant RPM above idle. Note engine pressure on pressure gauge. Using scan tool, read MAP sensor pressure. If MAP sensor pressure is within one inch of engine pressure on pressure gauge, MAP sensor is operating properly. Test is complete. If MAP sensor pressure is not within one inch of engine pressure on pressure gauge, replace MAP sensor.
