NOTE:
If replacing the PCM, the correct vehicle mileage and Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) must be programmed into PCM to prevent DTCs from being stored in Controller Anti-Lock Brake (CAB) module, and Air Bag Control Module (ACM). If replacing PCM and vehicle is equipped with a Smart Key Immobilizer Module (SKIM), secret key data must also be updated to enable engine starting. See PROGRAMMING . After completing this verification test, the 42LE Transmission verification test must be performed.
- Inspect vehicle to ensure all engine components are connected. Reassemble and reconnect components as necessary.
- Inspect engine oil for fuel contamination. Change engine oil and filter as necessary. Attempt to start engine.
- If a no-start condition exists, diagnose no-start condition. See NO-START DIAGNOSIS in appropriate BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES article.
- Run the engine for one warm-up cycle to verify operation. A warm-up cycle is defined as the engine is started, an increase of 40°F (4°C) in engine coolant temperature exists after engine is started and engine coolant temperature reaches at least 160°F (71°C).
- Using DRBIII® scan tool, confirm that no DTCs or secondary indicators are present and that all components are functioning properly. If a DTC is present, repair is not complete. Perform appropriate test. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS . If no DTCs are present, repair is complete. Perform transmission verification test. See 42LE TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST VER-1 .
