System Precautions

1993 Chrysler LeBaron LandauSECTION System Precautions
WARNING: See ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SAFETY PRECAUTIONS article in the GENERAL INFORMATION section.

Before proceeding with diagnosis, observe following precautions:

  • Ensure vehicle has a fully charged battery and functional charging system.
  • Probe Controller Anti-Lock Brake (CAB) connector from pin side. DO NOT  backprobe CAB connector. When probing connector cavity, be careful not to spread terminal. This could cause an intermittent problem.
  • DO NOT  cause short circuits when performing electrical tests. This will set additional fault messages, making diagnosis of original problem more difficult.
  • DO NOT  plug or unplug CAB connector with ignition on.
  • Use DRB-II voltmeter unless instructed to use external voltmeter. DO NOT  use test light in place of voltmeter.
  • Use DRB-II ohmmeter unless instructed to use external ohmmeter.
  • Always perform SYSTEM VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1A  after repairs are made.
  • Always disconnect DRB-II after use.
  • Always disconnect DRB-II before charging battery.
  • DO NOT  disassemble components designated as non-serviceable.
