Preliminary Procedures

  1. Remove the left side steering gear boot. Steering Gear Boot Replacement 
  2. After removing the steering gear boot, inspect the steering linkage inner tie rod for evidence of corrosion or contamination. If corrosion or contamination is evident, replace the steering gear. Refer to Electric Belt Drive Rack and Pinion Steering Gear Replacement

Procedure

  1. Turn the steering wheel to expose the first two inches of the steering gear rack on the left side of the steering gear.
  2. Hold the steering gear rack with an appropriate wrench across the two recesses in the steering gear rack sides.
  3. Use the J-34028  wrench to remove and install the left side steering linkage inner tie rod.
  4. Measure and adjust the front toe. Refer to Wheel Alignment - Steering Wheel Angle and/or Front Toe Adjustment

Tighten 
100 N.m (74 lb ft)
