Installation Procedure

2003 Chevrolet Venture Base, Van Cargo ExtendedSECTION Installation Procedure

Important:  The instrument panel (I/P) will rest off of the lower mounts when you lower the I/P. This will aid in the routing of the wiring harness. Prop the I/P up in order to route the harness, as needed.

  1. Perform the following steps in order to install the instrument panel (2) to the body:
    1. 1.1. Secure the top retainers.
    2. 1.2. Lower the instrument panel (I/P).
  2. Install the I/P wiring harness. Refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL (I/P) HARNESS REPLACEMENT  .
    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.
  3. Install the bolts/screws (1) to the I/P body (3).

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolts/screws to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  4. Install the data link connector. Refer to DATA LINK CONNECTOR REPLACEMENT in Data Link Communication.
  5. Install the headlamp switch. Refer HEADLAMP SWITCH REPLACEMENT in Lighting Systems.
  6. Install the I/P upper trim. Refer to TRIM PAD REPLACEMENT - INSTRUMENT PANEL (I/P) UPPER  .
  7. Install the windshield pillar garnish molding. Refer to GARNISH MOLDING REPLACEMENT - WINDSHIELD PILLAR in Interior Trim.
  8. Install the switch bank. Refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL (I/P) MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT  in Lighting Systems.
  9. Install the heater A/C controls. Refer to HVAC CONTROL MODULE REPLACEMENT in HVAC Systems - Manual.
  10. Install the audio system. Refer to RADIO REPLACEMENT in Entertainment.
  11. Install the front floor console bracket. Refer to BRACKET REPLACEMENT - CONSOLE FLOOR  .
  12. Install the front floor console. Refer to CONSOLE REPLACEMENT - FRONT FLOOR  .
  13. Install the hood release handle. Refer to HOOD LATCH RELEASE HANDLE REPLACEMENT in Body Front End.
  14. Install the steering column. Refer to STEERING COLUMN REPLACEMENT in Steering Wheel and Column.
  15. Install the IPC. Refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) REPLACEMENT  .
  16. Install the underhood electrical center. Refer to UNDERHOOD ELECTRICAL CENTER OR JUNCTION BLOCK REPLACEMENT in Wiring Systems.
  17. Install the inflatable restraint I/P module. Refer to SUPPLEMENTAL INFLATABLE RESTRAINT SYSTEM in Airbag.

  18. Install the I/P compartment. Refer to COMPARTMENT REPLACEMENT - INSTRUMENT PANEL (I/P)  .
  19. Install the I/P accessory trim plate. Refer to TRIM PLATE REPLACEMENT - INSTRUMENT PANEL (I/P) ACCESSORY  .
  20. Install the knee bolster. Refer to KNEE BOLSTER REPLACEMENT  .
  21. Install the left closeout/insulator panel. Refer to CLOSEOUT/INSULATOR PANEL REPLACEMENT - LEFT  .
  22. Install the right closeout/insulator panel. Refer to CLOSEOUT/INSULATOR PANEL REPLACEMENT - RIGHT  .
  23. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to BATTERY NEGATIVE CABLE DISCONNECT/CONNECT PROCEDURE in Battery.
  24. Enable the SIR system. Refer to DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM in Airbag.
