- If Powertrain Control Module (PCM) was replaced, EEPROM in PCM must be programmed. If EEPROM is not programmed, a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) will be set in PCM.
- Ensure battery is fully charged. Ensure cable is properly connected on Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Perform EEPROM programming using Techline equipment manufacturer's instructions and latest software applicable for vehicle model.
- On 3.8L, once EEPROM is reprogrammed, perform powertrain diagnostic system check. See POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under BODY CONTROL SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK. Ensure engine is idling for one minute before checking for DTCs when performing powertrain diagnostic system check. Perform Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor variation learn procedure. See CRANKSHAFT POSITION (CKP) SENSOR VARIATION LEARN PROCEDURE (3.8L) in COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION.NOTE: If EEPROM programming fails, ensure all electrical connections on PCM are okay. Check Techline for latest software. If EEPROM programming still fails, replace PCM.
- On 5.7L, once EEPROM is reprogrammed, perform powertrain diagnostic system check. After EEPROM is reprogrammed, idle learn procedure and then Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor variation learn procedure must be performed using proper procedures. See IDLE LEARN PROCEDURE (5.7L) . See CRANKSHAFT POSITION (CKP) SENSOR VARIATION LEARN PROCEDURE (5.7L) in COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION.
