Ignition Switch: Removal

2001 Chevrolet Cavalier LS, 2.4 TSECTION Removal
  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect negative battery cable.
  2. Disable air bag system. See AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article. For 2002, see AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article.
  3. Remove steering column trim covers. Remove tilt lever. Remove 4 screws from lower trim cover. Remove upper trim cover.
  4. Remove ignition lock cylinder. See LOCK CYLINDER (CAVALIER & SUNFIRE)Β  .
  5. Remove retaining screws (2) from ignition switch (3). See Figure .
  6. Remove ignition switch (3) from steering column (1).
