Safety Warning
DIY auto repair can cause serious injury, fire, or vehicle damage. These guides are for informational purposes only. Always follow OEM torque specs, wear PPE, and consult a certified mechanic if you are unsure. You are solely responsible for your safety.
Mechanical Emergency Release
The RSS should be triggered if it has to be removed for repair work. If this cannot be done electrically, e.g. for repair work following an accident, the system must be triggered mechanically in order to avoid the risk of injury.
Follow the procedure set out below:
- Open the convertible top
- Open the rear lid/hatch
- Remove the luggage compartment floor mat and the luggage compartment trim panel of the partition wall
- Access the actuator by inserting a hook (3 mm diameter.) through the opening in the cross-member
- The actuator has an opening in the middle, by means of which the rollover protection bar can be triggered using the hook (very difficult).
