12 31 020 Removing and installing/replacing alternator (S62)
Switch off ignition.
Follow instructions for disconnecting and connecting battery. Refer to 12 00 ... Instructions for disconnecting and connecting batteryΒ .
Remove battery negative lead from battery and cover.
Remove alternator drive belt. Refer to 12 31 ... Replacing alternator belt pulleyΒ .
Remove cap from deflection roller.
Release screw (1) and remove deflection roller.
Release screws (2) on alternator.
Release screws (1).
Remove belt pulley (2) for power steering pump.
Disconnect plug connection (2) on alternator.
Release nut (1).
Installation:Β
Tightening torque, 12 31 1AZ. Refer to ENGINE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM - TIGHTENING TORQUES .
Remove battery positive lead from alternator.
Remove alternator.

Press out bushes on engine support.
