Acceleration assistance (race-start function)
Conditions for acceleration assistance:
- High-grip road surface
- Dynamic Stability Control DSC deactivated (DSC button pressed for longer than 3 seconds)
- SPORT button pressed
Acceleration assistance allows optimum vehicle acceleration from standstill, on a par with motor racing standards. Normally, the clutch engages at approx. 1300 RPM. With the acceleration assistance, the engine speed is increased to approx. 4000 RPM before the SMG closes the clutch. To make use of this, the driver merely has to depress the accelerator pedal quickly and completely (kickdown). Forced upshift in manual mode (only with race-start function) makes sure that the engine is unable to reach a critical speed. The race-start function is deactivated by cancelling the kickdown function via the accelerator pedal position, by deactivating the Dynamic Driving Control FDC with the SPORT button or by activating DSC.
