2004 Acura 3.5RLSECTION Throttle Cable Adjustment

  1. Remove Intake manifold cover. See Figure. Start engine and run at 3000 RPM, with all accessories off, until radiator fan comes on. Allow engine to idle.
  2. Hold throttle link to throttle lever and ensure there is no clearance. Check cable free play at throttle linkage. Cable deflection should be .36-.50" (9-13 mm). If necessary, loosen lock nut and turn adjusting nut until deflection is within range. See Fig 1. Retighten lock nut.
  3. With cable properly adjusted, ensure throttle valve opens fully with accelerator pedal fully depressed. Ensure throttle valve returns fully to idle position when pedal is released.
