Safety Warning
DIY auto repair can cause serious injury, fire, or vehicle damage. These guides are for informational purposes only. Always follow OEM torque specs, wear PPE, and consult a certified mechanic if you are unsure. You are solely responsible for your safety.
Downloading Software And Replacing The Control Module: General
New software can be downloaded into the Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT). When software is ordered the software and hardware of the vehicle are compared with Volvo's central database. If the comparison corresponds then the software is downloaded into the control module.
If the comparison between the car and Volvo central database is not OK, the database is updated with the car configuration. When this is complete the software and any security access code is downloaded.
For further information regarding downloading, see appropriate Design and Function information for the Downloading Software.
After software download or if the battery has been disconnected, the tailgate must be closed so that the angle sensor is able to measure the vehicle angle. Power Operated Tailgate Module (POT) and its functions will be disconnected before that.
