Safety Warning
DIY auto repair can cause serious injury, fire, or vehicle damage. These guides are for informational purposes only. Always follow OEM torque specs, wear PPE, and consult a certified mechanic if you are unsure. You are solely responsible for your safety.
Control Module
The parking assistance system serves as an aid to the driver when parking the vehicle. Based on information from a number of sensors, the system can warn of objects near the vehicle. The warning is in the form of an acoustic signal that is emitted from the speakers connected to the audio module (AUD) or the integrated audio module (IAM). This acoustic warning is regulated by the parking assistance module (PAM) sending signals to the audio module (AUD) or integrated audio module (IAM) via the infotainment control module (ICM).
Some cars and model years also have a graphic display in the front display screen, which is connected to the infotainment control module (ICM).
When the parking assistance system is active, a figure and/or text message appears in the infotainment control module (ICM) display and an LED illuminates in a switch located on the climate control module (CCM) panel. The system can be activated and deactivated both automatically and manually.
The components which are directly connected to the parking assistance module (PAM) are:
- rear sensors
- front sensors (extra equipment).
The parking assistance module (PAM) communicates with the following control modules via the CAN:
- central electronic module (CEM)
- infotainment control module (ICM)
- climate control module (CCM)
- driver information module (DIM)
- Park Brake Module (PBM)
- gearbox control module (TCM)
- trailer module (TRM) (accessory).
