Checking the wheel sensor and pulse wheel
- Ignition off.
- Remove the wheel for better access.
Check that wheel sensor in question is tight against spindle or hub. Check that there is no dirt between the sensor and mating surface.
Check that the magnetic pulse wheel is correctly secured and free of damage, scratches (for example scratches, deformation).

Check the connectors on the brake control module (BCM) and the wheel sensor in question sensor for contact resistance and oxidation.
Check the connectors and wiring insulation for damage.
Check that the wheel sensor cables are not too close to sources of interference.
Remedy as necessary.

- Ignition off.
- Restore components and connectors.
- Ignition on.
- Test drive the vehicle following:
Check the ABS warning lamp during the test drive. If the fault has been remedied the lamp will go out when the speed exceeds 20 km/h. If the warning lamp does not go out, return to the workshop and read off the diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).
