Gearshift Program
Normal program
When driving with normal accelerator pedal application the Transmission Control Module (TCM) uses a preset gearshift program, optimized to shift for economical driving. This gearshift program is designed for "normal" driving which combined provides early upshifting and lock-up. The gearshift program automatically adapts to different driving cases such as driving uphill with a trailer or driving at high altitude. In addition, transmission oil pressure is adapted to provide gentle engagement of the gears.
Sport mode (only B6304T2)
A new "Sport mode" function has been introduced to the 2008 model year on vehicle with B6304T2.
The sport mode is achieved by shifting the gear lever from D to the right to the end position at +/- .
At the same time, the symbol in the combined instrument panel display changes from D to S . Usually a downshift occurs as soon as S mode is active.
Driving in S mode gives a more sporty feeling when driving actively. Shifting occurs at higher engine speeds compared with driving in D mode. During active driving, a lower gear is prioritized, which means delayed upshifts.
Upshifts occur more quickly and more distinctly.
The gearbox is manual, Geartronic mode, when the gear lever is moved forwards or backwards in manual mode. The information display symbol changes then from S to the engaged gear, 1-6.
ECO mode (only B6324S2)
To minimize fuel consumption there is an ECO mode, this mode is active in mode D and in manual gear changing mode (Geartronic).
Gear changes then occur at lower engine speeds and down-changes are harder to perform. Even more lock-up is used.
