Condition
If a malfunction of the speed signal is detected in the brake control module (BCM), a malfunction message is sent to engine control module (ECM) and a diagnostic trouble code is stored in the engine control module (ECM).
Diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) for the vehicle speed sensor (VSS) signal are stored in the brake control module (BCM).
Substitute value
- Cruise control is disengaged when the fault is active.
- The speed signal from the transmission control module (TCM) is used, automatic transmission.
- The speed signal from the brake control module (BCM) is set to 6 km/h, manual transmission.

- Look for the cause of the fault in the brake control module (BCM).
