Transmission Control Module (TCM)

Note! Some variation in the illustrations may occur, but the essential information is always correct.
Preparatory work
Information
Caution! The software can only be ordered when the control module is installed in the vehicle. VIDA reads off the new control module identity which is required to order the correct software.
Caution! Wait one minute after the ignition has been switched off. The main relay must be voltage free before the control module can be removed from the car. If the engine cooling fan (FC) runs on after the ignition has been switched off, wait until it stops. Then wait a further minute.
Removing the battery negative lead
Ignition off.
Note! Shift the gear selector lever to neutral.
Disconnect the battery negative cable. See: Battery Disconnecting
Removal
Removing the air cleaner (ACL) module
Remove the air cleaner (ACL) module. See: Air filter module Service and Repair.
Removing transmission control module (TCM)
Caution! Do not touch the control module terminal pins with your fingers. Static electricity (electric static discharge) may damage components in the control module.
Remove:
- the 2 connectors (1)
- the M8 screw for the bracket (2)
- the bracket
- the 3 M8 screws (3)
- the nut (4)
- the lever
- the control module. Do not damage the terminal pins.
Installation
Note! For tightening torques, see Specifications. Tightening Torque
Installing transmission control module (TCM)
Note! Ensure that the arrows are opposite each other.
Note! Shift the gear selector lever to neutral.
Install:
- the control module. Do not damage the terminal pins
- the 3 x M8 screws
- the bracket
- the M8 screw for the bracket
- the 2 connectors
- the lever, 1 nut. Tighten. See: Tightening torque Tightening Torque.
- the battery negative cable.
Installing the air cleaner (ACL) module
Install the air cleaner (ACL) module. See: Air filter module Service and Repair.

Ordering software
Order software according to: Software Downloading
Checking the diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs)
Check that no diagnostic trouble codes have been stored during the repair.
Calibrating the gear-shift position sensor
Calibrate the gear-shift position sensor.
